The example that I use is there is a website that lists all of the restaurants in Brighton.
So, if someone was going to Brighton, for BrightonSEO, and they're from out of town and they wanted to know where to eat, there's a website that lists all the restaurants in Brighton.
If you are a restaurant in Brighton, and you can get listed on that site, then yes, that would be beneficial. But in general, most of the directories out there, those links have absolutely no value.
